Projects
What are the makings of a Researchers Without Borders project?
Researchers without Borders projects are collaborative efforts that embrace the point of view that only with collective and collaborative work will we make progress on some of the most challenging issues facing the improvement of education and other systems in our country. While founded by educators, RWB projects not only welcome, but call for and even require participation from individuals in other sectors that can also benefit from the progress made by the group. RWB projects conduct much of their work on-line in a transparent manner so that everyone who chooses to participate can enter the discussion at any point. The goal of RWB projects is to benefit from what is known across fields and sectors that typically do not communicate with and interact with one another and to develop shared language and conceptual clarity so that communication and collaboration can continue and the RWB community can accumulate knowledge on its focus topics.
RWB projects have at least four common characteristics:
- They address issues that cross multiple sectors and fields;
- They address issues that can benefit from widely collaborative efforts;
- They embrace participation of people who might not be formally considered researchers;
- They focus on attribution, not ownership.
